Non Dairy Blueberry Lemon Muffins!

MmmmmmmmmMmmmmMMM MUFFINS!

There were some things I wanted to do tonite; but unfortunately; Mom took a wee tumble down the stairs so
I decided  to stay in and keep an eye on her.

And....it also seemed like the PERFECT time to try Elizabeths from "Don't Call Me Betsy"'s blog recipe for Non Dairy Blueberry Lemon muffins.

All I have to say is Yum> Do it. Do it now. Step away from your laptop and go make these muffins.

They won't last long. I suggest doubling the batch and freezing half. :)

And now...on to the Pink Lemonade Cake....

Enjoy your weekend!

Checkerboard Top Finished!

Just a quick catchup on the progress of the Checkerboard Quilt.
Not the best pic; sorry. It's a bit rumply.
The top is done; it is a bit bigger than I originally intended; it's twin sized, and I was going to make it a lap quilt but;
sometimes they have their own minds.

I used a jellyroll of Moda 30's solids and Kona Cotton in ash for the checks and some border and then Kona Coal for the darker grey border. I think I am in love with Kona Coal, yessiree.

 I only used HALF the roll; so you could easily make this quilt with the full roll to a queen sized quilt;
and with creative borders push it to a king I don't doubt.

It goes on the pile of To Be Quilted; there are a bunch to be quilted for the May 5th HBBA Home show. Yay!

(It's my first show since Christmas; that show completely burned me out but that's also because I wasn't truly prepared. Read about that fiasco here. )

Enjoy your weekend folks!

Checkerboard QIP!

Hi there!
I've been wanting to make this pattern by Molly Deschenes over at Apple Cyder for awhile now.  When I found the Moda 30's solids jellyroll combined with Kona Ash; well... I knew it immediately;  THIS was the fabric!
Isn't it amazing when you find the fabric and have that AH HA! moment? When you know *exactly* what you're going to make with it? I love that.

And this pattern is super easy to follow; once I figured out the whole left/right things. Ha.

Here is the QIP: (Quilt In Progress)
All the Strips; it made a pretty flag!

ly stages of piecing. You can see the tape I use to keep track of the A Blocks.

I'm going to work on finishing this today. (And nope, this one is mine, you can't have it. Nyah.!)
Have a great Sunday!

Quarantine - not quilt related -

A few years ago I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease; a thryoid malfunction where your thyroid gland goes INSANE in your body and wreaks havoc.
I've been on the meds for it, had all the bloodwork, and then this past week I had the last of my uptake scans.  Where they discovered that my thyroid gland had developed nodules and so it needed to be taken care of Now. So I drank the radioactive iodine, and now am radioactive and under quarantine for Three Days. This is Day Two.

 I'm going crazy.

I have to stay away from people; for three days. No touching, preparing food that will be shared by others, staying inside away from people, wiping stuff I touch, washing everything I wear/use immediately. So, I can't bake, or sew or do any of the stuff I would normally do. But it's only three days. And I"m pretty fortunate that all my health problems can be taken care of so easily.

I didn't feel so hot the last few days, headachey, slow, and wobbly. I mostly just stayed in bed, browsed quilt/crafter blogs and watched an enormous amount of Tudor England programs. God bless you, David Starkey. What a melodic voice you have. Perfect to sink in and out of consciousness to.  I *did* clean my room, went through my closet to skim out the clothes that I haven't worn, or can't cuz ahem, they shrunk ahem, and so I was a bit productive. The hardest part has been not petting my kitty; he just looks at me with those big googoo kitty eyes all confusted as if to say, "Why won't you  love me? What's going on?" Poor baby. I did break down and pet him a bit, after washing my hands thoroughly and using the brush which I babywiped down immediately.

Gah. At least we have two bathrooms.
Hopefully now my life will settle back down normally; unless you've experienced thryroid troubles it's really hard to describe. Like being yourself, but not. Kinda like being underneath glass and watching everything happen, unable to stop or change. And the depresssion. Oh! What fun. And the weight gain. Which REALLY helps with the depression....lol. 'Tis a vicious cycle. Thank goodness I have had the support I have had. Thanks to all my pals who stuck by me, and listened to my ramblings and got me thru many a Kitchen Floor Session.
anyways. I've had the treatment. I hope things get better, now that I'll be missing half my gland; I hope that all works itself out in my body and I can just be normal. Heh. As normal as I ever am......:) I really wish though my original Dr. hadn't scared the crap outta me about how serious this was; my anxiety levels have been through the roof. I experienced my first anxiety attack ever the other night....not fun. But...all will be well.

I wanted to sew, but my concentration simply wasn't there, plus I was worried about making the fabrics contaminated. Even though I always wash everything before sending them out, since some are for babies, didn't want to risk it. Just in case.

But today I think I might go do some sewing, stuff for me that has been languishing over the treadmill arm for far too long.

The 100th Day of the Year

April 10th is the 100th Day of the Year - The Day of Daring, so the books call it.

And it just happens to be my birthday.

I'm 39 years old today ... eep. I don't remember how I got to be this old. 39. Seems so, I dunno...grown up.
And next year, I'll be....Forty. Aiieee. How the heck did THIS happen!!!

LOL.... I still think I'm in my mid twenties somewhere....

But I had an okay birfday, had to work, it snowed, it was cold and windy. But I dragged my Mom & brother out to try Japanese food for the first time. Their first, not mine. I thoroughly enjoyed dinner, my brother did too, Mom, not so much> But she was a good sport. And I bought a book. Yay.

Now I'm on the couch, typing away happily, working on the new version of my production website, sippin' a schnapps, kitty purring away happily beside me.

My facebook page was going crazy with all the birfday wishes, I'm so humbled and honoured so many folks took the time to say happy bday to me.

So ya,

Life is good. Even if I am 39 years old today. :)
Me, Bear, and Happy Apple. Both of which I still have.

Hi!

Hi there!

This is my first post for this blog; it is my business blog and as such will be more focused on my custom ordered quilts, costumes and all things sewing related. You can contact me at any time to order a quilt or with questions here.
Enjoy my site!

Fell down go boom. Ow. No quilting today.

Well, no sewing for me tonite.

I was takin' out the garbage, and there's this ONE sidewalk stone that I know is raised up a bit. I know it's there. I know you know I know it's there.

I forgot it was there.

Ow.

Ah. The moment when you are happily skipping along and then the next you are mid-air, flailing....

Then, you are dazed with pain, scrambling back up the steps to get inside as soon as possible.....hoping that no neighbour witnessed your graceful descent....

Hoping no one is noticing you are trying *really* hard not to cry.

Yeah, it hurt that much.

Yeah I bangeded up my knee and shin prettttty darn good. I landed square on my kneecap. It hurts to bend it. But it bears weight so I don't think it's broken. Just painful. I put frozen veggies on it and kept it elevated...now i'm hobbling around.

I can't believe I fell down and skinned my knees, hands and cut my toe somehow. Owie.

Even though I had a full nite of sewing planned; I spent most of it on the couch watching hours of junk tv. The cat was happy, he snuggled right up to me and is still snoring happily beside me.

To-morrow and to-morrow and to-morrow... I shall sew away to-morrow. Knee allowing, of course.

Ow.

Good night, all.
